Ahoy Sailor Magazine

This was for a University project; I decided to make a magazine about body modifications as I feel the ones that are in the market aren’t doing the art of modifying any justice. Originally inspired by Sailor Jerry, hence the name of the magazine "Ahoy Sailor" and the hand written note he himself wrote featured on the first page:
"Nobody is asking you! If you don't think you have balls enough to wear a tattoo, don't get one, but don't try to make excuses for yourself, by knocking the fellow who does!"

By looking at famous and infamous tattoo artists from all over the world, I picked a selection of artists with different styles that I admire, these are artists that I follow regularly some of which are still apprentices but have shown amazing talent and the willingness to become better. Through thorough research I gathered as much information on them as I could in order to truly make the magazine look more authentic and actually make people enjoy learning about these artists and what they have to say. Featuring artists who have also started their own clothing lines inspired by the tattoo culture and who commission great “unknown” artists and help them to get their work recognized, a few interviews with the founders of two different clothing lines and their story. I decided to finish the magazine off with a unique piercing that is the corset piercing along with the fascinating history that is body suspension.

The images used in this project do not belong to me and the articles were not written by me. All content that was gathered was to try and truly value the art of modifying. If interested in where I gathered the information please feel free to contact me, as I will be more than happy to share the fascinating articles I found on these subjects.
